The map is not the territory

A mistake that is made in describing or philosophising about tango is that that description, explanation or philosophy defines what tango is. No, the map is not the territory. The map is not an objective picture of the landscape, it only describes our relationship to the landscape. So too our explanation is not tango. It only describes how we relate to tango in the same way that the path up the mountain is not the mountain.

The more we try to describe what tango is and isn’t, the further away the meaning gets. Don’t you think?
