Every tango teacher of argentine origin that I have worked with has begun by apologising for the weakness of their english. Yet only in one case has it actually been a problem in the class. This is due to a number of factors. One; the Irish speak such a convoluted english of inferences and references that a heavy accent realy isn’t going to throw us. Two; the dearth of expression forces the teacher to simplify and break down their explanation. And three; that awkward sentance structure causes the audience to prick its ears and pay attention to what is being tried to be said.
Sometimes plain english just isn’t good enough.
