Don't Mind Your Language?

I would so like to do a revision of this for tango but the original by Stephen Fry is far too excellent.

First read my post on the idea that tango is a language then read this.

Had he only been born a Irishman he would enjoy speaking english the same way the do, with the reckless abandon that one drives a rented car.

Beware the post is long and deserves a full read through.

Stephen Fry, a fine talker. If you liked that you will also like http://www.languagelog.com, although I suspect you do already.

I can speak English with reckless abandon on a good day. And sometimes I feel the influence of Patrick O’Brian, who was not born an Irishman, but became one by sheer force of words.

Limerick, I’ve never heard a better expression for the way my Irish mates let it roll off their tongues and, when typing, their fingers. Thank you!
